City Action and Action Heroes
Playmobil puts the fire brigade, police and ambulance in two themes: City Action and Action Heroes. Both have stations, vehicles, helicopters, boats and small rescue scenes.
Because every set uses the same Playmobil figures, vehicles, buildings and figures from both themes go together. A play world can start with a small set and grow step by step.
What age?
Of the fire and police sets with an age on ToySetFox, most say 4 and up and some 5 and up. The age on the box is the maker's advice and applies per set, not per theme; more in the guide Play sets by age.
Playmobil fire brigade
The centre is the fire station: the large fire station (9462) with three figures or the fire station 72191 from City Action. The vehicles set out from the station.
Vehicles such as the fire ladder truck (72192), the fire rescue truck (72193) or the fire helicopter (72196) also work without a station. A small set such as the animal rescue (71467) with one figure is a good addition.
Playmobil police
For the police, the police station with interrogation room (71874) from Action Heroes is the central building. The police patrol car (71729) and the police figure set (71730) add more officers.
Some police sets tell a small chase, such as the police motorbike chasing the money robber (70572): then officer and robber come in one box.
Which set as a gift?
For a first present, a vehicle with figures is enough; you often find such sets in the €15 to €30 and €30 to €60 budgets. A station is the big present that more vehicles join later; fire stations tend to be in the from €60 budget.
With light and sound vehicles, check the batteries, and with younger siblings, watch for small parts. For the very youngest, toys made for their age are under Toddlers.
