Short answer: Choose a Playmobil house on three things: how much space you have, whether you want to add rooms later and which style your child likes. Playmobil says the My Life Family Home with Conservatory (71607) can be extended with four room sets, such as the kitchen with dining area (71608). For a love of old houses, look at the nostalgic dollhouse (70890).
For many children a house is the heart of their Playmobil world: that is where the figures live and where every story starts. Playmobil has several, from a modern family home to a dollhouse in an old style. This guide sets out the choices using what Playmobil states and what is in the product names. ToySetFox tests nothing itself.
Which houses are there?
Playmobil sorts its sets into themes. Houses and everyday life are mostly found in Playmobil My Life and in Playmobil City Life. There are also dollhouses in a nostalgic style and smaller houses.
- Modern family home with separate rooms. A large house you put room sets into. This is the choice if you want the house to grow.
- Nostalgic dollhouse. A house in an old style, with its own add-on for an extra floor.
- Small house. A smaller house, such as the Tiny House (71509), for little space or as a second house.
The My Life family home and its room sets
Playmobil describes the Family Home with Conservatory (71607) as a spacious house with a conservatory and a furnished living room at its centre. There is a solar panel on the roof. Playmobil gives its size as 58 x 36.5 x 35.5 cm and the age as 4 and up.
According to Playmobil the house can be extended with four room sets. The catalogue includes:
- the kitchen with dining area (71608),
- the bedroom with baby play corner (71609),
- the bathroom (71611).
So you can start with the house and add a room later, for a birthday for example. Figures are sold separately as well, such as grandparents with baby (71613).

The nostalgic dollhouse
If your child likes houses in an old style, there is the nostalgic dollhouse from Playmobil's Dollhouse range. It comes in a large version (70890) and a small version (70891). For the large house there is a floor extension (70711), as its product name says.
The furniture comes in separate sets. For the bathroom (70895) Playmobil writes that it can be combined with the nostalgic dollhouse (70890). Playmobil also places the nursery (70893) in the same Dollhouse range. Check the product information of each set to see whether it fits the nostalgic house.

Other houses and a farm
Not every house has to be big. The Tiny House (71509) is a small house, and the set small chicken farm in the garden (71510) belongs with it. City Life has one more large house: the Modern House (9266), with its own extension. If you would rather have a farm, look at Playmobil Country, for example the farm (72162). Our article on Playmobil Country and Schleich Farm World goes into more detail.

What to look out for
Space. Measure the spot where the house will stand. Playmobil lists the size in the product information; the My Life family home is 58 cm wide.
Age. For the My Life family home Playmobil gives 4 and up and warns that it is not suitable for children under 3 because of small parts. For younger children there is Playmobil Junior.
What is in the box. A large house does not always come with all its furniture and figures. Read in the product information what is included and which room sets are separate.
Lights and batteries. Some sets have lights that need batteries. Whether they are included is listed with the product.
How to choose
- You want the house to grow: the My Life family home, then the room sets.
- Your child likes old houses: the nostalgic dollhouse, large or small.
- Little space: the Tiny House.
- A farm instead of a house: Playmobil Country.
